The adidas Micropacer made news as the first running shoe to contain a ‘mini computer’ way back in 1984. Since then, the Micropacer has held its head high at the Trefoil factory, becoming one of the most popular silhouettes the brand has ever produced. This beauty, courtesy of Germany’s Schuh-You store, encapsulates the ‘Soles and Stripes’ campaign that is running in conjunction with adidas’ 60-year anniversary. Keeping the celebrations banging on, adidas have decided to sell the special striped edition at half the price – so why not cop two pairs!
Adidas continues to celebrate its sixtieth anniversary in style with the release of the History Pack, in which some of the brand’s most recognizable silhouettes have been recreated with features drawn from the adidas archive. Comprised of a Superstar, Stan Smith, Samba, Nizza and Forum, each shoe boasts a suede sockliner and an embroidered Herzogenaurach patch to commemorate the birthplace of the brand. Sportschuhe - Weltberühmt durch Qualitat, which translates as "Sport Shoes - world-famous by Quality”, has also been subtly embossed or printed on each model. News via Hypebeast.
DC have teamed up with French label Sixpack for a new round in their Double Label Project. The pack is comprised of a Xander and Sector 7 from DC’s LIFE collection, each with a premium pigskin trim and an icy-clear sole to match to cool angular pattern on the upper. The artwork is underlined by a subtle political message:
Dubbed “Non Merci”, the Sixpack collection draws from inspirations that cross political borders, embrace impossible love and yet harbor deep feelings. Meaning “no thanks” in French, the translation of “Non Merci” can also be interpreted as “I’m over it.” For the project, the symbol of this mindset is a beautiful blonde model that exudes “Non Merci”, placing her on an untouchable pedestal as an object of desire. Her image is displayed across the collection’s footwear and apparel.
The release is accompanied by a premium apparel range which includes a Metro 100% genuine lambskin leather hooded jacket, an Illusion reversible crewneck pullover and MCP zip hoodie. Check out DC for more details.
Nike Sportswear's newest release has a very familiar look about it. The Air Maxim updates the classic OG Air Max 1, loading it with the latest in technical innovation to bring its performance into the new millennium.
“We took the original Air Max 1 design brief and ran it through a present-day filter,” says Nike Sportswear Design Director Jesse Leyva. “We tried to solve the very same problems Tinker Hatfield did with the technology of that time, using the technologies and Nike sporting innovations of today and tomorrow.”
Like Hatfield, Leyva and his design team focused on lightweight stability and cushioning. The result is a staggering 66% weight reduction from the original, with the Air Maxim coming in at a mere 10.1 ounces. This dramatic weight reduction can be attributed to several key features: Introduction of the innovative Acespan Mesh, a lightweight material developed for the 2008 Nike LunaRacer—coupled with Flywire Technology—that debuted in the 2008 Zoom Victory Spike, the lightest, strongest running spike ever made. It drastically reduces weight while creating an upper that moves with the foot and is stronger than ever. Deployment of a three-piece injected Phylon midsole, optimizing cushioning and support. Use of lightweight screen-printed Swoosh design trademark and eyelet details, which further reduces the overall weight. From the turf to the court to the street, the Air Maxim 1 is set to let you perform on air in any situation.
To ensure that its heritage remains true, the Air Maxim 1 still features its trademark suede heel counter and rand in original Sport Red, a revolution in its own right back in 1987.
“From a performance standpoint we had no intention to take a step back,” Leyva insists. “It was paramount to be true to the original design brief and make a running shoe that can perform to the highest standards, while retaining its original design lines and iconic color. We’re very proud of the results.”
As Berlin’s Bread and Butter Tradeshow gears up Asics have come to the party, teaming up with B&B for these “Salmon and Butter” flavored GT IIs. The pair feature a special BBBerlin logo embroidered in gold on the cool suede upper. Only three-hundred have been made, with two-hundred given to friends and family and one-hundred tasty morsels set aside for the public. Thanks to Hypebeast and Beinghunted for the images.
